I'm visiting Nantucket during the Summer, what type of clothing should I bring?

Nantucket can be cool in the evening even in July, so include a jacket and a sweater, pack an umbrella or raincoat too. For Winter trips pack all your woolens and a heavy windproof jacket.

Do I need a car?

We recommend you leave your car behind as parking is limited and everything is easily accessible by foot, bike (all the bike paths are very well maintained), or you can hop on one of the shuttle buses that run during the summer months.

Do I need to make ferry reservations in advance?

It is recommended, especially during the summer months. If you are bring a car you would need to book well in advance.

Is there a dress code for the restaurants?

While casual clothing is the norm for daytime acitivities, gentlemen should bring a jacket. When making reservations, ask if the restaurant requires specific attire.

Where can I play golf when I visit?

There are 2 public golf clubs on Nantucket, one is Miacomet Golf Club (508-325-6596), the other is Sconset Golf Club 508-257-6596. Sankaty Head Gold Club is private but welcomes the public during the Winter season with special packages 508-257-6391. Nantucket Golf club is Nantucket's other private golf club (not open to the public).
